HISTORY

We Shouldn't Seek Approval To Transact With Each Other. Instead, We Should Seek To Make Those Who Want Control Over Our Transactions Irrelevant.

Caribbean Treasures was established in 2020. Formerly it was known as "Spark Mint" which began in 2014 as a small garage based private mint that used 1900 vintage screw presses to make the first tokens.

After collecting the 1st Casascius brass round in 2011, I knew these would be a great tool for financial Liberty, if done correctly. While trying to design my early pieces, Mike C. of Casascius told me (in 2013) that he is no longer making fractional bitcoins and couldn't help with the Spark Mint piece. It was at that point that I knew I had to learn how to become the manufacturer of my own silver round collectables . Most of 2013-2014 was spent acquiring tools and learning different ways to make a silver round. My wife sculpted a design and poured the plaster mold, and we found an old reduction machine in South Dakota to cut the dies. This method of creating dies was how it was done before electricity.

Following this period of learning, the first physical bitcoin piece was made (Mintage of 3 cold storage rounds). They were small 1/10 oz silver pieces and as fractional barter pieces; they were my favorite.

Trading peer to peer is the best use of these fractionals because most purchases wouldn't be for a full bitcoin. My first attempt at a fractional cold storage wallet was funded with 0.1 BTC. These early pieces were not marketed to the public and I stacked them for personal use. Soon it became apparent that in the future smaller denominations would be a more useful tool.

Over the past few years, I have been building physical cold storage pieces from common and precious metal blanks and have taught small groups around the Midwest how to do this using pieces they already had in their collections. Fast forward to 2020 and the move to Caribbean Treasures took place......................
